(ANSAmed) - PARIS, 23 MAG - Polls carried our ahead of French
legislative elections on June 12 and 19 have indicated a
head-to-head race between the majority alliance of President
Emmanuel Macron and the left led by Jean-Luc Mélenchon. Three
weeks from the vote, a survey carried out by the Ipsos
Institute-Sopra Steria for the newspaper Le Monde, the Fondation
Jean Jaurès and Cevipof, showed that the result of presidential
elections held in April is expected to strongly influence the
vote for the renewal of the National Assembly.
With a turnout expected to be around 47%, the poll showed
that Macron's presidential majority obtained 28% of voting
intentions, closely followed by the left-wing alliance led by
Mélenchon (27%) and by the far-right (27% for the Rassemblement
National of Marine Le Pen and 6% for Reconquete of Eric
Zemmour). Macron's field, the newspaper added, would however
"remain in a position of strength". (ANSAmed).
