Sustainable Infrastructure and
Mobility Minister Enrico Giovannini said Wednesday that a
feasibility study on the revived idea of building a bridge
across the Strait of Messina to connect Sicily with the Italian
mainland was coming soon.
"The feasibility study for the construction of the bridge across
the Strait is about to be assigned," Giovannini said during a
visit to Nola, near Naples.
"The commission has rejected the hypothesis of a tunnel.
"Now it is necessary to assess whether a multi-span or
single-span bridge is more feasible".
