Deputy Premier and Interior
Minister Matteo Salvini on Wednesday ruled out the hypothesis
that the government will have to pass an additional corrective
budget to stop scheduled rises in value-added tax from kicking
in.
"There won't be an additional budget," League leader Salvini
told RAI television when asked about so-called budget 'safeguard
clauses' for VAT hikes unless alternative financial coverage is
found.
"There won't be any new taxes. There won't be a wealth tax or
taxes on new homes.
"What we are working on is a revision of the IRPEF (income
tax) bands, by bringing the 23% one down to 20%, for example".
