Premier Matteo Renzi said
Friday that "from Lebanon to Afghanistan, from Iraq to Somalia,
as far as the Balkans, Italy is one of the countries with most
soldiers abroad.
However, he stressed: "But this presence cannot be detached
from a strategy."
Renzi said "we will maintain our commitments by trying to
strengthen the coordination of all the allies in the (anti-ISIS)
coalition".
The premier said "we've already seen what happened in
Libya, when you bomb without thinking about afterwards.
"Before deciding military intervention you need to have a
clear strategy about the aftermath", he said, speaking of the
international coalition against ISIS.
Italy is engaged against ISIS with reconnaissance air
missions in Iraq but has declined to extend these to Syria.
