As part of a mission to Central America, between 3 and 5 February, the President of the National Research Council, the CNR, Maria Chiara Carrozza, visited Costa Rica with the aim of promoting and encouraging bilateral cooperation with the country's universities, research institutions and researchers.
In San José, President Carrozza signed a cooperation agreement with Cimar, the Marine Biology Centre of the University of Costa Rica, Ucr, and visited the scientific facilities of the prestigious university.
He then visited Cenat, the National High Technology Centre, and held a meeting with the Costa Rican Rectors' Conference, Conare, which unites the heads of the country's five public universities. A framework agreement on scientific and technological collaboration was in the pipeline with both institutions.
At a reception in the Italian Residence, the President finally met with Italian scientists in Costa Rica, the many Costa Rican researchers studying in our country, and representatives of the government and local academia, with the aim of strengthening scientific collaboration between the two countries.
