In Pakistan, some 26 million girls, boys and girls do not attend school.
Italy stands by Pakistan and its institutions to help stem this educational emergency through the project 'Radio Education - Promoting Learning through Radio in the Isolated Areas of Pakistan', launched today in Islamabad in the presence of the Italian Ambassador to Pakistan, Marilina Armellin, representatives of the Federal Ministries of Education and Culture and of the provinces, as well as numerous civil society organisations, a statement read.
The project, financed by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and implemented by Unesco, aims to use Interactive Radio Instruction (IRI) to improve educational provision, actively involve parents in the learning process after school, and encourage the enrolment of school-age boys and girls in the formal education system.
