Ita Airways inaugurated the airline's new premises in the prestigious setting of the Hotel El Aurassi Business Centre in Algiers, the capital of Algeria, which is currently connected with 14 flights a week.
The ribbon was cut by Deputy Ambassador Antonio Poletti and Ita Airways' Regional Manager, Benedetto Mencaroni, accompanied by the Head of Algeria, Domenico Bianco.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of Algerian institutions, civil aviation, the Italian diplomatic and business community, the main national tour operators, and a select representation of frequent travellers who use the carrier to travel to Italy or to the other destinations served by the airline.
The new office, considered as the beating heart of the carrier's presence in Algeria, is managed by a team of professionals who take care of the operational schedule of Ita Airways' flights to and from Algiers Houari Boumedienne International Airport, which confirms the company's strong commitment to the Algerian market.
Ita Airways currently operates between Italy and Algeria with 14 weekly flights and considers the Algerian market fundamental from a commercial point of view as it is strategic for its development in the area. The hope is that traffic can be increased to accompany the 'strong and intense' relations between the two countries.
During the ceremony, which took place yesterday evening, it was also recalled that in Italy there is currently a growing interest in Algeria and an awareness of Algeria's tourist potential, represented among other things by large Roman cities such as Tipaza, Djemila and Timgad, as well as the Great South.
On the same occasion, it was highlighted that Ita Airways in the North African area operates in Tunisia, Egypt, as well as in Saudi Arabia with the recently inaugurated Jeddah-Rome route, which complements the existing service from the Middle East, including a direct flight to Riyadh, launched last June.
Thanks to Ita's operations, passengers can easily explore Italy and access a vast network via convenient connections from the Rome Fiumicino hub. New routes support the expansion of Ita Airways' intercontinental network for the summer season, which now includes 57 destinations: 16 domestic, 26 international and 15 intercontinental. Recent additions include San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago and Toronto in North America, and Accra and Dakar in Africa.
During the peak summer season, Ita Airways also introduced 12 seasonal connections, selected from the most desirable Mediterranean tourist destinations.
Ita Airways' presence in the Middle East market is also further strengthened by codeshare agreements with leading carriers in the region, such as Saudia and Emirates. Starting from the next winter season the Ita network will also start operating to two new Asian destinations such as Dubai in the United Arab Emirates and Bangkok in Thailand.
