Two days ago, on the opening day of Job & Orienta, a panel was it elidedicated to illustrating the synergy between the Ministry of University and Research (MUR) and the General Commissariat for Italy at Expo 2025 Osaka: a precious opportunity to delve into the stages of the approach to the next Universal Exhibition, scheduled in Osaka from 13 April to 13 October 2025, and to discover how Italian innovation and research will be protagonists on a global stage.
The framework agreement signed in July 2023 by the General Commissariat with the MUR, the Crui, the Afam and the CoPer finds full implementation in the numerous initiatives aimed at promoting and coordinating the participation of the Italian university system, the artistic and musical academies and the world of research at Expo 2025 Osaka as well as strengthening the internationalization of the Italian academic and research system, in line with the objectives of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) "The Universities and Institutes of Higher Education in Art, Music and Dance will actively participate in Expo 2025 Osaka with innovative programs and projects within the Italy Pavilion," said Elena Sgarbi, Deputy Commissioner for Italy at Expo 2025 Osaka in Verona. "The leading entities of the proposals are 7 university institutions and 5 Afam institutions.
The projects, thanks to the involvement of the professional and academic world, present an artistic and cultural value that will strengthen the internationalization of the Italian education and research system." "The agreement with the MUR, made possible thanks to the valuable commitment of Minister Bernini, aims to highlight the excellence of the Italian academic world on the global stage of Expo 2025 Osaka, in Japan and in the ASEAN region, through a structured, transparent and inclusive approach," said Ambassador Mario Vattani, Commissioner General for Italy at Expo 2025 Osaka. "For the first time, universities, academies and conservatories have joined the Commissariat to actively collaborate in the preparation of Expo 2025 Osaka, working together to adapt the proposals received in line with the specifications and peculiarities of the Italy Pavilion. "This process intends to enhance each contribution, foster new international collaborations in the fields of research and business, and attract investments and talents from Japan and the Asia-Pacific to Italian academic institutions." The participation of the General Commissariat at Job & Orienta in Verona follows an operational workshop that brought together representatives of the Universities, Research Institutes and Afam Institutions, whose projects were selected for the Italy Pavilion. The proposals of the Universities, research centres and Afam institutions will give life to an exhibition and performance offering that at the Italy Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka includes workshops and conferences, offering the international public a unique perspective on our scientific and cultural heritage. The project sees the participation of leading universities distributed throughout the country.
Seven proposals from the universities and research centres have been accepted, in many cases these are collaboration projects presented by consortia of universities that have decided to team up: such as the project of the Universities of Emilia Romagna (University of Ferrara, University of Bologna, University of Parma and University of Modena and Reggio Emilia); that of the National Research Centres (INARC) financed by the NRRP; the project of the Ca' Foscari University of Venice, with the University of La Sapienza of Rome, the University of Naples "L'Orientale", the University of Florence and the University of Milan; the project of the four Milanese universities (University of Milan-Bicocca, University of Milan, Polytechnic of Milan, Bocconi Commercial University); the project involving nine research centers in Marche, Umbria, Abruzzo and Molise (University of Urbino, Gran Sasso Science Institute, University of Camerino, University of Macerata, University of Molise, University of Perugia, University of Teramo, University of L'Aquila, Polytechnic University of Marche); the project of the Polytechnic of Turin; that of the Tuscan universities (University of Florence, Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, University of Pisa, University of Siena, Scuola Normale Superiore, University for Foreigners of Siena) with the National Research Council.
Instead, five Afam projects have been selected: one involving thirty Italian conservatories coordinated by the Venice Conservatory and one involving twelve State Academies of Fine Arts and four Isia with the Academy of Rome as the leader (Politecnico Accademia di Bergamo, Accademia di Bologna, Accademia di Brera, Academy of Florence, Academy of Frosinone, Academy of Genoa, Academy of Lecce, Academy of Naples, Academy of Palermo, Academy of Ravenna, Academy of Turin, with ISIA of Rome, Florence, Pescara, Faenza); the one proposed by Poliarte, Academy of Urbino, Conservatories of Pesaro and Fermo, University of Urbino; ;;that of the Conservatory of Nocera Terinese with the Italian Institute of Design of Perugia and the University of Bologna, that of the State Conservatory of Music of Ribera-Agrigento.
Coming from all over Italy, the selected projects represent the diversity and quality of the research sectors, from scientific innovation to cultural heritage, from the arts to music, reflecting the peculiarities of the entire Italian territory and giving life to an offer not only of workshops, seminars, conferences and talks but also of exhibition and performance events, such as concerts and fashion shows, offering the general international public and experts and researchers of the sectors of other countries a unique perspective on our heritage and the scientific and cultural value of Italy.
