A row has erupted after the logos of
American Express and other sponsors were projected onto Ponte
Vecchio and the nearby Institute of the Innocents in Florence
during the F-Light 2021 Festival Tuesday night.
City Mayor Diego Nardella said he would ban such incidents while
Uffizi Gallery Director Eike Schmidt said he was "stunned and
horrified" by the case.
He said the Uffizi had not received a request for authorization
as laid down by the law.
"We would never have approved such an insult to our cultural
heritage." said Schmidt, observing that the logos had also been
shone onto a section of the Vasari Corridor.
