A woman says she has lost her main
source of income after a squatter pretended to be a tourist and
occupied her property in Florence after booking it for three
days via Airbnb.
The owner, Maria, told Corriere Fiorentino that a 40-year-old
woman has been living in the apartment for eight months with her
son, her dog and cat without paying anything.
She said that, so far, her efforts to have the family evicted
after reporting the case to the authorities have been to no
avail.
To add insult to injury, she has had to pay the utility bills
and taxes on the apartment.
She is suing squatter but the first hearing will not take place
until March.
