Public transport was severely
disrupted in cities across Italy on Monday amid a strike
organized by transport workers' unions.
Due to a national strike that began at 8:30 and is scheduled to
end at 16:30, all subway lines and rail services connecting
Termini station to Centocelle were shut down in Rome, the
capital's transport company ATAC said.
The company also announced the possible cancellation of bus and
tram services.
Naples' transport company ANM said the subway line 1 in the
southern port city was closed until 16:30.
Meanwhile public transport services were also disrupted in
Milan, Genoa, Venice, Bologna, Florence and Bari.
The strike was organized to support the renewal of the contract
of public-transport workers.
