(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 20 - Italy registered its 104th femicide
of the year Monday as a 50-year-old Romanian man was arrested in
the rape and murder of a 70-year-old German woman near Perugia
in Umbria in December of last year.
The victim was Marielle Soethe, a German citizen who had lived
for many years in the upper Tiber Valley, at Citerna.
A measure of pre-trial detention in prison has now been carried
out for voluntary homicide and sexual assault against the
Romanian, who has been residing in Italy for some time.
The woman, on December 1, 2022, was found dead in her home by
the Carabinieri who had been alerted by a friend of hers worried
about not having had contact for several days.
