(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 21 - Italy has caught some 100 migrant
smugglers since the February 26 disaster at Cutro in Calabria
where 94 migrants died and 11 were declared missing after a boat
broke up on rocks in choppy seas, Interior Minister Matteo
Piantedosi said Thursday.
"With the entry into force of the Cutro decree we have arrested
100 traffickers, seized 386 boats and arrested 10 people on
charges of piracy," he told question time in the Senate.
Piantedosi added that Italy was working to increase
international accords with origin countries for repatriation.
