Italy is second in Europe for the
highest number of investigations into the management of EU funds
completed by the EU Anti-Fraud Office in 2022, according to
OLAF's annual report published Tuesday.
There were 10 anti-fraud investigations against Rome, nine of
which ended with recommendations to the competent authorities.
Italy is preceded only by Hungary, with 15 concluded
investigations (nine with recommendations).
In the EU as a whole, OLAF concluded 256 investigations, mostly
related to the recovery of EU funds, making 275 recommendations
and recommending the recovery of 426.8 million euros to the EU
