A cold snap is biting northern Italy
with temperatures around winter averages while the south of the
country is basking in mild spring-like temperatures of up to 20
°C.
Rome will enjoy temperatures of 18-19°C at least until Saturday,
weatherman Lorenzo Tedici said at www.iLMeteo.it Tuesday.
It will be clear and sunny everywhere until Thursday evening
when a fresh storm front, like the one that dumped heaps of snow
in the north, widespread showers in the centre and flood damage
in the south last weekend, will move into Italy from Sardinia
and Tuscany, Tedici said.
On Thursday night snow is possible over low ground in the
northwest, he said.
In detail, Wednesday's forecast calls for fog in northern plains
and cold across the region, but sunny on mountain areas. In the
centre there will be a few scattered showers, especially in
Umbria. The weather in the south will be stable.
On Thursday the north will see scattered showers from the
evening on, with snow over low ground in southern Piedmont. The
centre will see rain in Tyrrhenian parts, while the south will
enjoy fine weather and balmy temperatures for the time of year.
