Italy stands ready to welcome those
fleeing war in Ukraine, Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said
Thursday.
"Naturally we are always ready to welcome those fleeing the war
and who are desperate people," he said in reference to a
possible new exodus from Ukraine as conditions worsen during the
winter.
Italy has taken in thousands of Ukrainian refugees, some of whom
have returned to their country.
Tajani was speaking in Barcelona on the sidelines of a meeting
of ministers between the EU and the near South.
