No genetically modified food will hit
Italian plates as long as the current right-wing coalition is in
government in Italy, Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Food
Sovereignty Francesco Lollobrigida told the Senate Thursday.
"I guarantee that as long as we are in government, there will be
no food on the tables of Italians that has been created in a
laboratory", Lollobrigida said at question time in the Upper
House.
"I wish to clear up any misunderstanding and stress that the
government is opposed to synthetic and artificial food and
intends to oppose this type of production in every forum," said
Premier Giorgia Meloni's brother-in-law, denying media reports.
