The government's decision to end a
vaccine mandate for doctors and other medical staff was due to
the changed epidemiological picture and a shortage of doctors,
Health Minister Orazio Schillacci said Monday.
"Putting these unvaccinated doctors back to work serves to
combat the shortage and ensure the right to health," he said.
Opposition centre-left Democratic Party (PD) leader Enrico Letta
accused the government of pnadering to the anti-vax lobby and
said the first cabinet meeting could not have marked a worse
start for the new rightwing government.
