Premier Giorgia Meloni is to visit
Brussels on Thursday November 3 to meet European Commission
President Ursula von der Leyen and other EU officials, the EC
Chief's Spokesman Eric Mamer said Friday.
It will be Meloni's first trip abroad since she became Italy's
first woman premier after winning the September 25 general
election.
Meloni will also see European Council Charles Michel and
European Parliament President Roberta Metsola.
Mamer said Friday that the Commission expected good cooperation
from Italy on the many challenges facing the EU and Italy.
"What the president (Ursula von der Leyen) expects is good
cooperation from the (Italian) authorities in view of the many
challenges awaiting us, with particular regard for energy," he
said answering a question on Meloni's first foreign trip.
Meloni will attend COP27 at Sharm El-Sheikh in Egypt on November
7-8 and the G20 summit in Bali on November 15-16, her office
said Friday.
