A man has barricaded himself inside
his home after abducting his four-year-old son from social
workers in northern Italy, sources said Thursday.
The man, who is from Eastern Europe and is separated from the
boy's mother, allegedly stripped the child from the arms of a
social worker in the town of Rodengo Saiano, near Brescia.
He fled the scene and then locked himself and the child up in
his home in Roncadelle.
There are reports that the man threatened the social worker with
a gun, possibly a fake one, following a decision to give custody
of the child to the mother.
Carabinieri police are negotiating with the man.
