A murder probe has been opened into
the death of a teacher at a school near Naples on Tuesday night,
legal sources said Wednesday.
The man, Marcello Toscano, 64, was reported missing at around
eight o'clock and his body found in the Marino Guarano middle
school at Melito di Napoli at around ten thirty.
Preliminary analysis of the body appears to show he was killed
by a knife.
The school is the same one where a 13-year-old boy was wounded
in the back by a stabbing last May and where two months
previously an 11-year-old girl was attacked by a peer in a
bathroom.
Police suspect another knife attack in the case of Toscano, who
was married with two children and had in the past served various
terms as municipal councillor in the nearby town of Mugnano.
The man's body was found behind a bush in the school grounds by
Carabinieri police who had gone looking for him after his son
raised the alarm.
