The number of COVID-19 deaths
registered in Italy crossed the 1,000 mark in the July 20-26
period, rising to 1,019, up 23.8% on last week's 823, the GIMBE
medical foundation said in its weekly coronavirus monitoring
report on Thursday.
The number of new cases, however, remained on a downward trend.
It said 473,820 new COVID cases were registered between July 20
and 26, down on 25% on the 631,693 of the previous week.
