The Italian foreign ministry is
following with the utmost attention the tragic case of Andrea
Mirabile, a six-year-old Sicilian boy who died of suspected food
poisoning in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh on
Saturday, the ministry said Thursday.
The Italian embassy in Cairo and the honorary consulate at
Sharm, in close liaison with the foreign ministry, immediately
contacted the competent local judicial and medical authorities,
which opened an investigation following the boy's death.
The embassy and ministry are likewise working to assure, as soon
as possible, the return of (the boy's parents) to Italy and the
prompt repatriation of the boy's body.
