Finance police on Tuesday seized over
772 million euros in bank credits allegedly stemming from a huge
ring of fraudulent claims for State incentives for construction
work to make buildings more environmentally friendly.
Prosecutors said 143 individuals and entities are being probed
in the provinces of Napes and Caserta in relation to the case.
Among the beneficiaries of the credits was a man who allegedly
claimed to have handled 30 million euros of building work even
though he was in jail.
Many of the suspects are allegedly linked to mafia clans and
around 70% were claiming the 'citizenship wage' benefit for the
poor or had applied for it.
