The massive post-COVID EU-funded
National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) will be even more
"central" to the Italian economy's recovery amid the
repercussions of the Ukraine war, President Sergio Mattarella
said in a message to the annual assembly of small-business group
Confcommercio Wednesday.
"After the crisis caused by the pandemic and the important signs
of recovery also in the service, commerce and tourism sectors,
Russia's war on Ukraine is generating a new moment of arrest and
involution," he said.
Supply-chain chaos and the "interruption of the normal chains of
value", the president said, "are causing "strong tensions"
destined to push up prices starting with energy, he said.
The NRRP remains "central" to Italy's efforts to start growing
its economy again, Mattarella said, and "firm determination is
needed on the part of institutions, as well as a widespread and
cohesive commitment by all social and economic forces".
