A public-transport strike hit Italy
Friday with disruption to services across the country and car
traffic logjams in major cities.
In Milan the metro was closed for four hours and there was a
huge increase in car traffic, local sources said.
In Rome there was a similar situation after underground services
were reduced.
In Naples only the central funicular railway was operating.
Unions are demanding better pay and conditions.
