- ROME, DEC 6 - A 58-year-old man with a police record was arrested by Carabinieri police in Castellammare di Sabia (Naples) after he tried to set on fire his disabled father, 89, investigative sources said Monday.
The man was arrested by Carabinieri police after he hit his dad with a crutch, then tried to strangle him and subsequently poured an alcohol bottle on the father's bed before trying to set it on fire.
His mother and brother were able to stop him and called the police.
The 89-year-old was given a seven-day prognosis by medical personnel.
Four years ago, the man's parents had forgiven him and allowed him to return home after he was first arrested for abusing family members.
