Nino Cartabellotta, the president of the GIMBE independent medical foundation, said Monday that around 390,000 people in Italy have had their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine in the last two weeks.
The rise comes as things get increasingly complicated for the unvaccinated in Italy On Monday a new 'Super Green Pass' system that excludes people unvaccinated for the coronavirus from most social, leisure and cultural activities comes into force.
Since October people have also needed the 'base' Green Pass to be able to access places to work- This can be obtained by the unvaccinated with a negative coronavirus test although it only has a validity of a few days in this way.
"We have obtained around 390,000 new vaccinated people in the last two weeks," Cartabellotta told Radio Cusano Campus.
"This shows that, directly or indirectly, the famous hard core of the unvaccinated can be eroded.
"Obviously, if this rise continues, within two months, only the real diehards will be unvaccinated.
"I doubt that this increase will happen although it is hard to make predictions.
"Often the Italian people surprise us in a positive way".
