The education and health ministries apparently issued a circular letter late on Monday reimposing the rule for a whole class to go into distance learning if there is a case of COVID-19 among pupils or staff - but government sources later denied there had been any such order.
The rule was recently relaxed so that distance leaning only kicked in when there were three cases in a class.
The reports that one case would again suffice to spark distance learning for an entire class sparked dismay among teachers and parents.
