The management of Bari's Giovanni
Paolo II have ordered an operation to sanitize its oncology
department after Legionella, the bacteria that causes
Legionnaires' disease, was found in its wards' water pipes.
The authorities ran checks on the water following the death of a
66-year-old patient on March 7.
Prosecutors are investigating that death.
About a dozen of the department's 65 patients will be
transferred to other hospitals.
The rest will be discharged, as planned.
