A 40-year-old man shot dead his
35-year-old wife with his hunting rifle before turning the
weapon himself overnight in a village in the mountains near
Parma.
The murder-suicide happened in the couple's flat at Borgo Val
di Taro.
Police said they were in the process of separating and the
incident came after an umpteenth row.
The couple had a teenage son who was not in the home.
The man was a farmer and he had a license for the rifle, police
said.
It was one of several guns he owned, as a hunting and shooting
fan.
The wife was a nurse and worked at the local hospital.
Autopsies have been ordered, even though the cause of death is
clear.
