Sports Minister Vincenzo Spadafora
has blasted a recent racist attack in Rome on paralympic athlete
Beatrice Ion and her father.
Ion, a member of the Italian wheelchair basketball team who has
Romanian roots, and her father were physically attacked and
subjected to racist insults.
Her father suffered a broken cheekbone.
Spadafora described the attack as "repugnant".
"I am really sorry about it," the minister said on Facebook.
"I hope those responsible are soon brought to justice".
