Lombardy is to resume admittances to
care homes which had been suspended amid a spate of COVID-19
deaths, regional welfare councillor Giulio Gallera said Tuesday.
Gallera said no people who have positive for the coronavirus
would be admitted.
"The new rules will be very rigid," he said.
"No (COVID-19) positive (person) will be placed inside a care
home and will instead be put into a health facility".
Several probes are ongoing into the disproportionately high
mortality rate at care homes in Lombardy and the rest of Italy.
Lombardy has had about half Italy's 33,500 coronavirus
deaths.
