A 78-year-old woman died of
septicemia in a Milan hospital on May 21 after allegedly being
left without proper care at Milan's Pio Albergo Trivulzio care
home, her brother's lawyer said Monday.
The woman died in the Fatebenefratelli hospital on May 21
after being admitted to another hospital, the San Giuseppe, on
May 19, he said.
The septicemia was caused by "bed sores that had gone into
necrosis, because she was abandoned without assistance," the
lawyer said.
Milan prosecutors have opened a manslaughter probe.
The Pio Albergo Trivulzio is one of many care homes in Milan
and Lombardy already under investigation for the high number of
coronavirus deaths there.
