Four minors have tested
positive for the ncoronavirus in Lombardy, the northern region's
Welfare Councilor Giulio Gallera told private television La7 on
Wednesday morning.
Over 320 people have contracted the virus in Italy and 11 of
them have died here.
Gallera said two of the minors are currently hospitalized,
one at Pavia's San Matteo Hospital and the other at a hospital
in Seriate, near Bergamo.
The youngest patient is four, two are 10 and another is 15,
he said, stressing that the virus has "a much more serious
effect on older people with preexisting conditions".
Lombardy governor Attilio Fontana on Wednesday morning said
that 259 people at the moment have contracted the virus in
Lombardy and, "for the first time, minors are also involved,
although their infection is lighter".
Fontana confirmed in an interview to La7's Omnibus program
that the four-year-old patient comes from Castiglione d'Adda, a
town in the area at the center of the outbreak.
