A 23-year-old man died of his
injuries in hospital on Thursday after being hit by a SUV while
waiting at a bus stop in Corsico, near Milan, on Wednesday.
Two other people, both aged 16, were also hit.
They are in hospital.
The driver of the SUV, a 26-year-old Italian who plays
basketball for a team in Serie B, the nation's third tier, told
Carabinieri police that he fell asleep at the wheel, sources
said.
He tested negative for alcohol and drugs.
Investigators are seeking to establish whether he may have
been using a cell phone whole driving.
