Education Minister Marco
Bussetti said Monday that he will send out a circular letter in
the next few days telling schools and teachers not to overload
children with homework during the Christmas holidays.
"I'd like to raise the awareness of the teachers and schools
about a time of rest for students and families, so that the
homework for the Christmas holidays is reduced," Bussetti said
during a meeting with Italy's watchdog for children's rights.
"Homework weighs on family commitments and so I'd like to
give a signal.
"I'm thinking of these festive days and the children and
their families wanting to spend them together".
