(ANSA) - Milan, October 15 - Pork has been taken off the
school menu and couscous put on it in nursery and elementary
schools in a small town near Milan, drawing the ire of
rightwingers.
Brothers of Italy leader Giorgia Meloni spoke of "madness"
saying "pork has been eliminated to make way for couscous, a
typically North African dish - do Italian children now have to
get used to the food needs of those who should start
integrating?".
The mayoress of Peschiera Borromeo, Caterina Molinari, said
the row was "absurd" and denied that the menu was aimed at
Islamic kids, saying "couscous is only on the menu once every 20
days and the menu has been approved by the local health
authority".
