A young man who stabbed and
bludgeoned both his parents to death has hung himself in his
prison cell, officials at Cagliari-Uta penitentiary said Monday.
Igor Diana, 28, was captured after a shootout with police in
May this year, and confessed soon after to killing Giuseppe
Diana, 67, and wife Luciana Corgiolu, 62, at their home in
Settimo San Pietro, near the Sardinian city of Cagliari.
"I don't know what came over me and I killed them," he
reportedly told investigators at the time.
Igor and a younger brother are originally Russian
and had been adopted.
Sources said his personality changed radically after he was
in a car crash in 2013.
