A researcher in medical
pathobiology from Vimercate near Milan, Simona Baronchelli, 32,
was found dead Monday in her hotel room in Cambridge, Il Giorno
daily reported Monday.
The paper cited British police as saying there were no signs
of violence on the woman's body.
Baronchelli was in the UK to take part in a conference.
A National Research Council (CNR) fellow, she was an activist
for Italian humanitarian organization Emergency, a medical NGO.
Her father, Luigi, said she suffered from severe allergies
since childhood but "knew how to keep them under control".
"Simona did not have any enemies," he added. "I can't even
imagine who could have hurt her. I hope that the pathologists
will prove that I am right."
