A hapless thief was arrested shortly after stealing 1,800 in cash from a restaurant Thursday and then running straight into the arms of Carabinieri police.
The Romanian national aged 43 legged it out of the restaurant with the loot and mistakenly headed down a street where the Carabinieri police station is located.
The officers had been alerted, saw him on running, and detained him.
The money was recovered and returned to its rightful owner.
The incident took place in the village of Cortemaggiore in Piacenza province.
