beehive has won the international prize for architecture at Expo
2015 awarded by the International Institute of Architecture
In/Arch and the national builders' association ANCE, it emerged
Tuesday.
The pavilion designed by British artist Wolfgang Buttress
is a "fervent hymn to nature conservation", the jury said.
In it, "engineering and construction technology, design,
art and architecture have come together in a subtle poetic
dialogue that allows us to still dream of a better world".
"The UK pavilion is among those that have best interpreted
the Expo theme of feeding the planet," the jury concluded.
The Cluster pavilions also received a special mention for
allowing "smaller countries to take part in the Exposition".
