Loans to the private sector decreased
by 1.6 per cent over twelve months up to July compared to the
previous equivalent period, the Bank of Italy said on Tuesday.
It said loans to households were down 0.6% while those to
non-financial companies fell by 3.9%.
It said private sector deposits increased by 1.1 per cent in the
period in question, down from a rise of 2.9% in June.
