(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 3 - The service sector is starting to grow
again in Italy after the COVID pandemic and the Purchasing
Managers Index (PMI) for the sector rose to 51.2 points in
January from 49.9 in December, S&P Global reported Friday.
It is the best result since last June, it said.
"The first increase since last June has restored activity to a
phase of expansion," it said.
"The Italian tertiary sector has started 2023 in a positive way
marking the first simultaneous increase both in activity and in
new orders since last June, and firms have continued to hire
extra staff, partly reflecting a growing optimism for the
