The Ukraine war will have grave
repercussions on global agrifood markets in terms of both supply
and uncontrolled price hikes, Farm Minister Stefano Patuanelli
told a G7 farm meet Friday.
"Particular concern is raised by the lack of stockpiling of
cereals and oily seeds, of which Ukraine is one of the biggest
exporters, and the risk of a halt in exports of fertilizers and
fuel by Russia, in response to economic sanctions," he said.
The conflict in Ukraine after Russia's invasion of its neighbour
was at the centre of an extraordinary session of G7 farm
ministers which Patuanelli addressed in a videocall.
