Punishment thresholds on tax
evasion will be lowered so that more dodgers are caught, Deputy
Premier and Labour and Industry Minister Luigi Di Maio said
Friday.
"The punishment thresholds for tax dodgers will be lowered
again," he said.
"Evasion is a serious crime, damaging for the State and
citizens. I'm happy it is finally being treated as such".
Di Maio said the thresholds had "practically tripled" under
the former centre-left government of ex-premier Matteo Renzi.
"We want a just tax system, fair, but those who evade taxes
should know that they will pay for the damage they cause
everyone".
