France has accepted a
1.2-billion-euro offer from an Italian-majority consortium to
buy 60% of Nice Côte d'Azur Airport, local media cited ministry
sources as saying Thursday.
Nice's international airport is the country's third largest
in terms of passenger numbers after Roissy and Orly.
The Azzurra consortium consists of holding company Atlantia
SpA (65.1%), Aeroporti di Roma (ADR) airport operator (10%) and
France's EDF Invest (12.9%).
The French finance ministry later confirmed the deal,
saying Azzurra has committed to preserving jobs at the Nice
airport and to continue efforts to reduce its environmental
impact.
