Italians throw away food worth a total
of 14.1 billion euros for 4.5 tonnes of products a year,
according to a survey released on Tuesday by Waste Watcher
International.
'The Italy case' 2025 report published ahead of the 12th
national food-waste prevention day on Wednesday said the annual
figure per capita was 140 euros compared to last year's 126
euros.
The survey said that every day an average of 88.2 grams of food
are wasted across the nation, or 617.9 grams per person every
week, up from the daily 81 grams and weekly 566.3 grams a year
ago.
The study said fruit was the most wasted food product, followed
by bread and vegetables.
