Premier Giorgia Meloni said Monday
that her government intends to make more changes to Italy's
IRPEF income tax after reducing the number of tax bands from
four to three, during a meeting with trade unions to discuss its
2025 budget bill, while stressing that it will depend on the
money that is available, sources said.
"The transition from four to three IRPEF rates has been made
structural (in the 2025 budget), with the merging of the first
two income brackets," Meloni said.
"It is also the government's intention to intervene on the next
income bracket, but this will obviously depend on the resources
we will have available".
She added that this, in turn, will depend in the revenues raised
from a voluntary agreement scheme under which firms and
employees will be subject to fewer tax checks if they agree to
pay a pre-arranged tax bill.
