Civil-service workers are to stage a
demonstration in Rome Saturday October 19 demanding more
resources for wages, healthcare, rights and jobs, unions said
Tuesday.
'Salary, health, rights, employment' is the slogan of the
national demonstration promoted by the public employment
categories of CGIL and UIL in Piazza del Popolo at 10 o'clock,
to demand the renewal of the contracts of all workers and ask
for more resources for those very national contracts and for
public healthcare "in order to guarantee universal and free
care".
Sector unions Fp-CGIL, UIL-Fpl and UIL-Pa said that the
demonstration also intends to denounce "the increase in
inequalities" with the government's planned differentiated
autonomy and to relaunch the proposal for a major, extraordinary
Plan for Employment.
They said they expect over 10,000 people to take to the iconic
Rome piazza.
